SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paxico, KS engaged Studio io to assist with planning a multi-phase renovation, completing a first phase phase consisting of new sanctuary furnishings and flooring. The centerpiece of the project is a new altar of sacrifice, which complements the elaborate historic high altar, along with new ambo, baptismal font, presidential chairs, servers’ seating, and credence tables. The principal furnishings feature custom mosaic inserts and faux marble finishes.
New sanctuary flooring extends the theme of marble and mosaic into the side chapels and down the aisle. Three custom mosaic medallion inserts feature the IHS Christogram in front of the altar and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the lily and t-square of St. Joseph in front of their respective votive shrines, providing an elevated aesthetic for the church starting in the sanctuary and extending down the center of the nave. The next phase looks to decorative paint to complete the sanctuary, along with a future extension of the beautification and improvements into remainder of the nave.
