Corpus Christi CATHEDRAL – EMMANUEL CHAPEL
Completed in 1940, the original basement chapel of the cathedral ccontained 24 marble crypts for bishops, and was enlarged in 1985, named the Emmanuel Chapel. The renovation retained the previous rustic wood coffered ceilings and the general form of the the symmetrical Romanesque side aisles, but the asymmetrical sanctuary and seating layout were ordered to better suit the room and the traditional aesthetic desired to complement the Spanish Romanesque style of the building. Custom pews and ecclesiastical lighting accompany a new reredos, statuary, and Annunciation-themed tabernacle by Granda.
